16. Silver Dawn – Mohammed Amin
Mar 17th, 2009
By the light of the moon, I pause and reflect,
On tomorrow’s high noon, Its cause and effect,
Deflected to here, light’s mirror presence,
Starts to appear, in increasing crescents,
Its hue has a value, apportioned by gold,
Battered bruised blue, this disc is so old.
It’s ever suspended to illuminate earth,
In the dark we depend on its intrinsic worth.
The face on one side of the coin is gleaming,
To cast out light on the shadow unseeming.
But going in circles through wax and through wane,
A dark side lurks, to tax and to gain.
Half the world lives on a dollar a day;
The other half gives paper money away.
The richest of the rich are free of all fears;
The poorest of the poor live for half of their years.
The fat and the greedy will still remain healthy,
As long as the needy have need of the wealthy.
It’s thanks to them we bear witness to much social unrest,
The government’s sickness, repaying interest.
Because the world isn’t powered by those in public office,
Ideals are devoured by this broken promise.
It bears the name: “Bank of-” (Insert your own nation)
While bearing the rank: ‘Private Corporation’
But who was it first stretched out the ‘kind’ hand?
To the worst of the worst to feed his demand?
Pick on the victim, unknowing or poor,
While they’re down kick them, provoking to war.
By lending out paper, that’s backed by no good,
Repayment comes later, common currency’s blood.
As workers strike, and rulers strike back,
All for the like of the money they lack.
For, though the bank knows his people be poor,
To him money flows, to come back the more.
If payment’s not met, they will settle for crops.
The way things will get, the sweat will pour drops.
How do these conspiracies spend overspend?
While their own debts increase, they lend neverend.
Do they live on thin air? On locusts and honey?
They just say a prayer, and out comes more money.
And so, by inflation, the money’s returned.
In the final equation, the money is burned.
Because it never existed, but as figmentation,
So if you’re blacklisted, it’s emancipation.
Some say: “In the bigger picture, it all balances out.”
But the rich get richer, so let’s have no doubt:
If it’s money you borrow, you’ll be left with regret,
You’ll go there in sorrow, and leave there in debt.

very good….very well written …
